How Coastal Veranda Parlour Started

Three figures explain most of it: one warehouse, one river, one evening repeated for years.

The Building

One Warehouse, Two Trades

The Reibey Street entrance to Coastal Veranda Parlour, lit as evening falls.

The building on Reibey Street held milk cans and cream before it held a single card table, built as a dairy company's river store in the years before refrigerated transport.

When the dairy trade moved elsewhere, the warehouse stood mostly empty for a decade, its brick walls the only thing that didn't change.

Coastal Veranda Parlour took the space over and kept the shape of the building almost exactly — seven bays became seven tables.

  • 1

Warehouse, once holding dairy from up and down the Leven.

  • 2

Decade the building stood mostly empty.

  • 7

Tables, one for each of the old loading bays.

  • 18+

The rule that hasn't changed since opening night.
